Broadway Magic

Tickets to see a Broadway play are included in the price of our New York City Arts Tour (October 4-7,2012). For full details on the tour, visit www.parkland.edu/communityed/travel. Choosing which play to see is like a game. Do we choose a musical or a drama? Will people want to see something that's been around a long time, e.g. Lion King or something new? Here are two plays, both receiving excellent reviews, that we're considering: A new kid on the block, that's up for several Tony Awards:
And a stirring, emotional drama that has brought even the toughest men to tears:
What's your choice?

  1. Hi, Jan -- Tell us more about "Once", please. It's a musical? I've already read "War Horse" and we've seen the movie, but I wouldn't mind seeing the stage play, which must be fantastic. I think DH and I may be coming along for this trip. Thanks for keeping us informed...and entertained!

  2. Hi! "Once" is a modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story. I saw the movie and quite enjoyed it. The musical, which is fairly new to Broadway, is up for several Tony awards. At this point, I must say, we haven't gotten word on which play we'll see on our tour (frankly, it might be something other than "War Horse" or "Once." Will certainly keep you updated. Thanks so much for your comment. Cheers, Jan.
